The new allotments are in Station Road behind the existing Allotments. The land is owned by the National Trust who lease the land to the Parish Council. the plots are are overseen by an 'Allotment Association' who are responsible for allocating plots and collecting the rent. There are 48 plots in total including 12 half plots. A full plot measures 6mx27m, half plot 6m x 13.5m. |
Costs:
£20 per year for full sized plot
£10 per year for a half plot.
Public Liability Insurance. It is a requirement by the Parish Council for each plot holder to have £5million cover., the allotment association have organized this at a cost of £3 per year. In addition to the insurance cover, plot holders are entitled to take part in a seed scheme where they can buy seeds and other goods a large discount.
Rent Due Date.
Rents are paid in advance and due on 1st March. each year.
Note: The rent due date has changed, this was decided at the EGM 26th July 2012, plot holders also voted to pay 18months rent in Sept 2012, so that the next rent due date would be on March 2013. This applies to all new plot holders.
New tenancies
A joining fee of £30 per plot is payable with the first rental payment. This is returnable at the end of the tenancy less any costs incurred by the association to return your plot to a good condition.
Waiting List Policy change - Monday 9th April 2012
This policy applies to all everyone requesting an allotment from 9/4/2012.
People who live in the Parish of Broadclyst will be given priority over any one else on the waiting list.
People outside the parish should be considered if there is no one else within the parish on the waiting list.
If a person already has an allotment with the BAA and wish to take one another plot this will only be considered if there is no one on the waiting list.
*Amendment 6th June 2013.
If a plot becomes available adjacent to an existing plot holder who has requested a second then this vacant may be offered to them regardless of the waiting list.
